Atari gave arcade goers something to play all the way back in 1976 with a game called Breakout. Players controlled a horizontal stick which batted a ball at colored bricks overhead. The gist of the game was to continue hitting the ball until all the bricks were cleared. Over a quarter of a century later, Sanrio licenses Hello Kitty's image to Dorasu for a new "Breakout" game where a paddle is maneuvered on the bottom of the screen to bat a ball at colorful bricks overhead. The adage "Everything old is new again," would be apt right about now.
Although the Hello Kitty license probably cost a pretty penny to procure, the main actors in the game are 10 cookie-cutter girl characters illustrated by Okama, Keito Koume, POP, Aoi Nishimata, and other artists. The protagonists look like they'd fit right into any anime drama-comedy show since they all have the proper amount of polish and attractiveness to merit work in front of the camera. One of the heroines bears a resemblance to Card Captor Sakura. The girls wear Hello Kitty buttons, hats, and other paraphernalia which is as suitable a use of the Hello Kitty license as any.
Hello Kitty to Issho! Block Crash 123!! features 100 stages along with another 100 arranged stages to play. By meeting certain conditions during the course of the game, players can unlock a PSP Clock function and a PSP Calendar. Players who are diligent enough to complete the game will also unlock an "Endless Mode" to enjoy.
